Pre-Appointment Checklist
To ensure a smooth and efficient experience, please check and be aware of the following before your appointment:
- Existing Film: Please verify if there is any existing film on your windows, as its removal will require additional time before we can apply the new film. Kindly inform us as soon as possible so we can adjust our schedule accordingly.
Look at the edges of the windows—if there's a slight gap or peeling at the edges, it's likely an aftermarket tint.
Factory glass is usually uniform in color and is a dye embedded in the glass. Aftermarket tint is a separate film applied on top.
- Window Functionality: Ensure all windows roll up & down properly. If a window has issues, we may be unable to tint it, or the installation may not achieve the desired quality.
- Clean Interior = Clean Application: A clean car interior ensures a smoother, higher-quality tint installation. Please remove any debris or clutter before your appointment—pet dander and dust are especially problematic!"
- Remove Car Seats: Please remove any car or booster seats before your appointment. While we can typically remove them, we will not reinstall them to ensure proper and safe reattachment.
- Sticker Removal: Any stickers on the interior glass of windows receiving tint, such as community gate stickers, parking permits, and SunPass/E-Pass, will be removed. Please arrange for replacements, as we cannot guarantee they will come off in one piece or reattach to the new tint."
- Waiting room: We take a thorough approach to ensure a high-quality finish. Appointment times vary depending on the vehicle type and the number of windows being tinted. While we have a small waiting area with seating, refreshments, and WiFi, drop-off is recommended for your convenience.
- Payment Options: We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay (with a 3.25% processing fee), as well as checks and cash."
Film Removal Process
For vehicles requiring tint removal, here’s what you can expect:
Steam & Scraping: We use a professional-grade steamer and a sauna-like process to safely remove old film without damaging your windows.
Headliner Caution: On older vehicles, if the headliner is loose or deteriorating, steam may weaken the adhesive, causing it to sag. As an alternative, we can scrape the film and adhesive using stainless steel razor blades. While this method preserves the headliner, it may remove defrost lines and affect the window matrix.
Defrost and Back Windshield Waiver: Even without using razor blades, we cannot guarantee that your vehicle’s defrost lines on the back windshield will remain intact during film removal. Before we begin, we require a signed waiver acknowledging this risk.
Aftercare Instructions
To ensure the longevity and appearance of your tint, follow these aftercare guidelines:
Use Proper Cleaners: Clean your tinted windows using non-ammonia, non-vinegar based cleaners to preserve the film. Most glass cleaners will indicate on the label that they are “tint safe”.
Curing Time: Do not roll down your windows for 3-5 days to allow the tint to properly adhere.
Normal Distortion: Slight moisture distortion or bubbling is normal within the first few days after installation due to the solution used to apply the film. While we can squeegee out about 90% of the moisture, the rest will need to evaporate on its own. Avoid touching and cleaning the windows during this drying period.
Exterior Cleaning: During the drying/curing process, it’s generally okay to clean the outside of your vehicle as long as you avoid disturbing the windows. Just be mindful not to get excess water near the edges of the tint or apply pressure that might shift the film inside.
Avoid Contact with Seat Belts and Rings: Be mindful when using seat belts or any sharp/hard objects near the windows to prevent damage to the film. While tint has a scratch-resistant layer, it can still be gouged or torn with sharp or abrasive objects. (If something happens don’t forget to take advantage of your scratch protection policy!)
Warranty Coverage: If you notice any distortion in clarity, peeling, or bubbling, visit us as soon as possible to take advantage of your lifetime warranty. Early detection is key to making the repair process easier and faster.
